Terms of Use
Set out as answers rather than as clauses, because a reader with a question wants the answer and not the numbering. These apply the moment a page here is opened.
Who is behind this site?
Stringcourse LLC, a Rhode Island limited liability company filed with the Rhode Island Department of State, formed October 3, 2021. Its one room is at , Providence, RI . Telephone +1 (401) 861-3427. Letters to openings@thecoveregister.com, mistakes to daybook@thecoveregister.com.
What is it?
A paper about buildings that are doing something other than the job they were put up for.
What is it not?
Not an architectural practice, not a surveying practice, not a real estate agency, not a travel agency, and not the agent of anybody whose building it describes. It arranges nothing and represents nobody.
Can I buy anything here?
No. This site sells nothing. There is no shop, no order, no basket, no deposit, no subscription and no membership on it.
Everything that would follow from a sale is therefore absent as well: no delivery, no shipping, no return, no exchange, no refund. There are no clauses covering those because the things themselves cannot happen here. A page that seems to offer one is broken, and we would like to hear about it at daybook@thecoveregister.com.
Can I rely on an entry?
Not as advice about a building. This is the paragraph that matters most on the page.
Every entry records what was visible from public ground on one day. Where a page says what a building was for, that is inference drawn from what can be seen, and the page says so in the sentence. It is not a survey, not a title search and not a condition report.
So, specifically:

What about the fare search?
An outside booking company runs it. Every reservation made that way happens without Stringcourse LLC in it: no view of one, no power to amend or cancel it, and no money passing through at any point.
The contract for a flight runs between the reader, that service and the airline, on terms that are theirs. Where a booking follows a search begun here, that service may pay this paper a commission from its own margin, and the fare quoted to the reader does not change either way. The fare search sets it out at length and the disclaimer states it formally.
What may I do with the writing?
Read it, quote a sentence or two with the page named, send it to somebody, print it for yourself.
Not: reproduce a whole entry, take a photograph, scrape the site, present any of it as somebody else's, or use it to build a competing listing. The writing and the photographs belong to Stringcourse LLC.
Something here is mine and you have used it
Write to daybook@thecoveregister.com naming the page, the passage, and the work you say it copies. Removal comes before examination rather than after it, and the answer says what was examined. Post arrives at the same desk, at the address above.
What happens to a letter I send?
It is read and answered. Nothing else. Letters are not published, not quoted, and not passed to anybody.
Is everything here accurate?
It is written to be, which is why there is a correction address, and no warranty is given that it is complete or current. Where a fact belongs to somebody else, the page says whose it is rather than adopting it.
Who carries the liability?
So far as the law allows, Stringcourse LLC does not carry liability for a decision taken on the strength of a page here, for the acts of anybody whose building is described, or for anything done by the service running the fare search.
Nothing above touches liabilities the law will not let anybody contract away. Fraud is one. Death or personal injury caused by negligence is another.
Are there links to other sites?
None, by design. There is a single exception and it is mechanical rather than editorial: the search posts to a subdomain of this address, operated for us by the booking company. Everything beyond that point belongs to them.
Which law, and can this change?
Rhode Island law, and Providence County is the venue. One unenforceable answer above leaves the rest standing. A change binds from the moment it is published, and the review date under every page is when that last happened.
